Hell Hath No Fury

I tried out a new coloring tutorial with this one.

I didn't quite do it right I think, I almost wish I kept it just the straight cel shading, but for the sake of something new some things much be sacrificed. I think I finally figured out the shadow "fading" by the time I colored the darker one.

NEvay...do not wake the mare.

So a bit of a follow up to my "Is that a Virgin I See?" story. Again we have Apollos (the white one) and Nekane (the red one...yeah I renamed her). This is a brind in their beast forms. See how they're not quite like horses but more like big, awkwardly shaped cats? Unlike horses they have flexible spines.

Now explanations, this will probably be a scene in the story I'm plotting out in my head. Apollos is madly in love with Nekane, but Nekane has suffered a terrible fate. Being what she is, she is able to be a surrogate mother, a fact her mistress took advantage of. She was locked away and left to die because the leaders were afraid that Apollos would lose his miracle should he be near her.

With the help of a nosy priest, Apollos breaks into the dungeon and uses his one miracle to revive his beloved, but the affect was not what he expected (as shown here). In her youth, Nekan's fangs and claws were removed (which is true for anyone of her kind). However when the miracle revived her, it restored what was lost. Meaning the return of a feral instinct.

I like how Nekane turned out in this one. She looks scary. :3
